At CPRE we are calling for a rooftop solar revolution, for the countryside and the climate.

Our campaign urges the government to fully realise the potential of solar on rooftops minimising the need for large solar farms in the countryside. Be a part of it and help us kick start a rooftop revolution.

Our 2023 report, ‘Shout from the rooftops: delivering a common-sense solar revolution’ found that over half the solar panels needed to hit national net zero targets could be fitted on rooftops and in car parks. It also revealed that there is vast potential in brownfield land to generate renewable energy.

By prioritising rooftop solar the need for large greenfield schemes can be removed. You can find out more about the campaign here.

Solar sites and proposed developments are a key issue for the countryside in Staffordshire. We’re recruiting a volunteer Solar Energy Contact to build our knowledge of and map new and existing solar development proposals and signpost people concerned about proposals  to planning information and local action groups.

As Solar Energy Contact, you’ll be helping to highlight the importance of the planning system and the countryside in responding to threats posed by climate change and contributing to positive planning for thriving and sustainable rural communities.

This is a flexible home-based role, so you can carry out tasks around your other commitments.
