Could you join our board and help us to achieve our vision and ensure the long-term success of our charity? We believe that the countryside is for everyone and that a thriving beautiful countryside rich in nature will play a crucial role in our county’s response to the climate emergency. We work hard to enhance, promote, and protect the countryside, including the communities within it.

Our lively board of trustees leads and shapes CPRE Gloucestershire to ensure the charity inspires people to care for and enjoy the benefits of the countryside wherever they live.

We aim to build locally on national CPRE campaigns to help raise the profile of countryside issues, such as the climate crisis, renewable energy, truly affordable housing, loss of green belt, regenerative farming, land management and sustainable transport.

With your support we can do even more! As a trustee you'll have an essential role in contributing towards the future direction of CPRE Gloucestershire, The Countryside Charity.

We are keen to hear from people who have good experience and knowledge of rural life (whether from an economic, societal, or environmental perspective). We would be particularly keen to hear from people who have expertise in campaigning, marketing, or communications. A knowledge of sound charity governance would be a welcome addition.

By becoming a trustee with us you'll be helping to find positive solutions for issues facing the countryside and the environment. By applying your skills and experience you can make a real difference and be a central part of a passionate Charity, determined to make a change.

You will be supported to develop in the role, and we will provide you with relevant training, including an induction. It is essential that you share the core aims and objectives of CPRE to protect and conserve Gloucestershire’s rich rural heritage. To be eligible for election candidates must already be, or be willing to become, CPRE Gloucestershire members.

We are keen to ensure our Board is diverse and represents our whole society. We welcome applications from sections of the community which are under-represented in trustee roles and in CPRE, including women, people with a disability and people of colour.

As a trustee you'll contribute towards decisions to develop our charity in line with our strategy and policy. You'll also ensure our compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations.

Trustees may hold office for up to six continuous years, subject to election or re-election annually at the AGM. Board meetings are normally held quarterly, usually in Gloucester, with occasional sub-group meetings.
